It's hard to imagine that it was 26 weeks ago that I met these kids and started observing in their class. I had a 9-week student teaching placement with them beginning in January, and it feels like it flew by. My students wrote me a note and signed it saying that they hope I reach my goal and that they were sorry for all the times they weren't listening to me. I had to laugh because I think there were so many times I could have listened to them more. Overall, I think we learned a lot about each other, and I'll miss coming to school each day to work with them. It's been such a privilege to help each of them learn and grow to become more competent students and young adults.
Even though my master teacher went on maternity leave this week, she surprised me with a basket full of teacher goodies. It's slightly embarrassing how much my heart warms at the sight of organized school supplies, especially colorful supplies!
Hi, my name is Alexis Markavage. I'm a student teacher and a Multiple Subject Credential candidate at Dominican University of California. I graduated from the University of Southern California in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in graphic design, but now I'm continuing my education to work in education. I hope to work as an upper elementary school teacher.
